Channel Development (Filming and Editing)

Filming Equipment

I have used many different filming equipment over the years since I created JB Visuals. As a beginner, I mainly captured the videos with a mobile phone which was not the best due to the black bars on either sides of the screens. However, the early videos would have been filmed in portrait instead of landscape. From 2017 to the present day, all videos are filmed in landscape.

As the years went by, I noticed the quality on the mobile phone was not looking good and thought it would be a brilliant idea to try something new which involved getting a professional camera to use in the house when making content at home. The camera itself is a NIKON D7500 which is the best one I have used because of the long lens that allows me to zoom in to get some close up shots of myself in front while I am talking. Also it's on a tripod which means the camera is levelled without any leaning. Plus I can also change the fps (Frames Per Second) which means there will be no flickering lights in the background.

Getting a camera for vlogging was properly the most difficult task to complete and did some research and watched videos to give me some ideas. In the end, I got the GoPro Hero 9 Black which is the coolest camera perfect for a vlogger who wants to capture footage while on the move.

Editing Software

One of the most important parts after filming a video is of course the editing. When the channel first started in 2016, I did not have any experience in editing at the time. The beginner's editing software was the YouTube editor which was very basic by adding in clips and transitions etc. From 2017 - 2020 I used another editing software called Wondershare Filmora which was a little bit better than the one I used previously. From 2020 to the present day, I edit all my videos in Adobe Premiere Pro which has so much going on from adding in different effects, transitions, cutting clips, colour grading, audio and so much more. I first learnt how to use Premiere Pro whilst I was at college and my experience with the software has grown ever since!
